Establishing Community and Partner Support for an Integrated Clinic for Families of Postpartum People with Substance Use Disorders
Foundation Funded
About the Project
This project involves working with advisors and stakeholders to determine the feasibility of establishing an integrated clinic treating parents with substance use disorders and their children in metro Detroit through pregnancy and the postpartum period. This project provided critical preliminary data to support the creation of a clinic that would serve all aspects of the family’s outpatient needs during pregnancy up to one year following childbirth, including: prenatal care, well-adult care, pediatric care in a trauma-sensitive environment, and addiction medicine services supporting parents and parents-to-be with substance use disorders. The clinic launched in Spring 2025 in a Federally Qualified Healthcare center (FQHC) which served southwest Detroit.
